Pytlick: hard work

By Rasmus Holm Thomsen

Coach Jan Pytlick was pleased after the match. Even though there were times with excellent play, the Danish national coach described the victory as hard work. 'I don't think it was a well-played handball match but most importantly: we won. Winning the three preliminary matches has given us the confidence we need for the main round', said Jan Pytlick. Like yesterday, he praised the Danish defence and the central defence in particular. In addition the Danish coach was satisfied with his tactical dispositions regarding Olga Assink. 'I think we handled Olga Assink very well. Before the match, we knew that a lot of the Dutch play would be built around her and therefore it was important that she didn't get off to a good start.'

However, Pytlick was a bit frustrated by the many missed shots. 'I think that we have a lot of excellent opportunities but the match looked a bit chaotic because of all the missed shots. We need to improve in this area'.

Denmark play against Rumania on Tuesday in the first main round match and Pytlick regards this as a key match. 'We have watched some of Romania's matches and I think it is a good team. The prospects will be good if we get two points against Romania and combine them with the four points we bring with us from the preliminary round.'
