Matushkavits unlikely
to play against Czechia
By Rasmus Holm Thomsen
One of the most prominent players on the Belarusian team, Ala
Matushkavits, who usually plays for KIF Kolding, was injured in
the 21st minute of the match against Hungary. Ala Matushkavits was
injured after she collided with a Hungarian player in a fast break
in the centre of the court. She was out for the rest of the match.
The Belarusian physician attended her after the match and found
a muscle injury. It is still too early to say how serious the injury
is. Whether Matushkavits will be playing in tomorrow's match against
Czechia or not will be decided tomorrow by the Belarusian physician,
Sergei Pitometz.
The head of the Belarusian delegation, Stefan Bögel does not
know how serious it is, but made the following statement after the
match:
'We are not going to make any announcements until tomorrow, five
minutes before the match. The practice tomorrow will tell us if
she is ready or not.'
