The oldest was the best

By Karina Wulff Harrestrup
Dragica Djuric, the Yugoslavian goal keeper, is the oldest player in the tournament. She is 39 years old. However, you would never guess that she is the oldest after the way she played against Austria tonight. There is no doubt that she was on of the best players and her many superb saves gave Yugoslavia the possibility to play swiftly and have my fast breaks.

She was very satisfied with the game:

“I don’t know why I play so well today. There’s no special reason, but the game was very important and that’s why I do my best to play well. Furthermore there is an extremely good atmosphere between the players. It was very important for us to win this match because now we are sure that we’ll advance to the next round of the tournament”, she said after the game.

The Austrian coach, Ole Eliasen, was also impressed by the Yugoslavian goal keeper.

“We don’t score enough goals today, and since their goal keeper plays extremely well they get many fast breaks. Yugoslavia was the better team today. It’s as simple as that”, he said.
