Czech scare

By Claus T. Kræmmergård
Saturday, Czechia was to try to repeat their impressive opening victory over Slovenia but the preparations for the match were disturbed by an accident involving one of the most prominent players on the Czech team.

The Czech goal keeper, Lenka Cerna, who played a great match against Slovenia, was hit on the side of her head by ball.

Consequently the goal keeper, who played her 50th match for the Czech national team Saturday, had to stay on the sideline. While the other players continued warming up there was hectic activity among the Czech officials. Lenka Cerna twisted in pain more than once due to strong pain in her jaw.

When the Czech iron lady had had a few minutes to recover, she reported that she was ready to play and then she went back on the court and finished warming up.
