Ausra Fridrikas consideres
her future
By Rasmus Holm Thomsen
In today's match against France, Ausra Fridrikas ran to the
substitution bench and broke down crying. This episode followed
after a tackle which resembled an assault. Had the episode occurred
outside the handball court the French defence players would most
likely have been convicted of assault and battery.
At the press conference following the match Fridrikas started crying
again. 'The matches aren't fun anymore. It is hard for me to find
the motivation and every match is painful. And when the referees
cannot see the difference between a bluff and foul play then it
is no fun for me', said the Austrian national player.
At the press conference, Ausra Fridrikas was also asked if she
looked forward to scoring her goal number 1000, which she is only
18 goals away from achieving.
'I don't think that I will get to score my goal number 1000 but
it is not important for me', said a sad Ausra Fridrikas, who may
have played her last match for the Austrian national team.
