Three Danish players
on the All-Star team
By Thomas Berndt
There was red and white everywhere when this year's All-Star
team was chosen. To the great satisfaction of the spectators, Karin
Mortensen was elected as the best goal keeper of the Euro 2002.
She was joined on the team by Danish left-wing Line Daugaard and
centre back Kristine Andersen. Perhaps it was due to the home court
advantage that the Danish centre back was chosen, especially considering
the well-playing Russian Irina Poltoratskaya.
However, Russia is represented on the team, as the ever so hardworking
Liudmila Bodnieva was given the position as line player. From this
position she will be screening for the hard shooting women on the
right and left back positions, Lina Olsson Rosenberg, Norway, and
Ausra Fridrikas, Austria. Finally, France's Stéphanie Cano
had the honour of being chosen as best right wing.
Agnas Farkas from Hungary was also invited onto the floor. With
58 goals she became the top scorer of the Euro 2002.
